HTC Thunderbolt 4G Review

Verizon’s first 4G LTE smartphone to hit the wireless market is the HTC Thunderbolt 4G.

Not only is the HTC Thunderbolt the first smartphone from Verizon to show off what the provider’s highly touted 4G LTE network can do, but this phone is easily one of the best 4G smartphones to hit the market to date.

The HTC Thunderbolt 4G runs on Android 2.2 using the HTC Sense interface.  This smartphone comes out of the box with a whopping 40 Gigabytes of memory–8GB internal and a 32GB micro SD card pre-installed.

The HTC Thunderbolt sports a beautiful 4.3-inch multi-touch screen with a 480×800 display capable of viewing video in 720p HD.  This huge screen is great for watching crystal clear movies and videos.  You can watch your favorite movies on this device without any buffering at all using Verizon’s lightning fast 4G network.

Let’s not forget Verizon has an exclusive deal with the NFL to show certain Thursday night and Sunday Night NFL games by way of their NFL Mobile App available for download though Google’s Android Marketplace.

This phone includes a kickstand that can position the smartphone vertically and horizontally, so there’s not a problem with pulling the kickstand out and placing the phone on it’s side to watch the game on the go or at work.

This smartphone also includes an 8MP rear camera with Dual LED flash and a 1.3 MP front facing camera.  Video conferencing and pod-casting is no problem with this smartphone.

One of the best features the HTC Thunderbolt 4G offers is it’s mobile hotspot capabilities.  At an additional cost through Verizon, the Thunderbolt can be used as a mobile hotspot and can support up to 8 WiFi compatible devices at the same time using Verizon’s blazing fast 4G speeds.

The fast 4G speeds the HTC Thunderbolt 4G renders does come at a small cost, and that cost is this phone’s battery life.  However, the battery life issues the HTC Thunderbolt 4G has can be easily resolved with the purchase of an extended battery.  The standard battery for the Thunderbolt gets around 380 minutes of usage and 330 hours of standby time.

Overall, if you’re looking to buy a 4G smartphone that is extremely fast, has a huge screen capable of displaying high definition videos and a ton of memory out of the box the HTC Thunderbolt 4G is the smartphone for you.
